DISCOVER TANTRA

A Journey of Love and Connection

What is tantra?

Tantra was originally a spiritual path that came from India. The term tantra comes from Sanskrit and is usually translated as a tool for expanding consciousness and should lead to enlightenment. Around 1500 years ago, people did not really agree on how tantra should be practiced and this is still the case today.

At that time, there were already various schools of tantra that had very different ideas. Nowadays, a distinction is often made between right-handed tantra (white tantra) and left-handed tantra (red tantra). In white tantra, as practised in Tibetan Buddhism, for example, the union of divine energies is practised in the form of prayers and visualizations. Red tantra, as practiced by the Indian Kaulas sect, for example, deals more with social taboos. Here, the physical body with all its sensory perception and even ritualized sexuality is included as a tool for enlightenment.

Important aspects of tantra

Practice is more important than theory
Tantra is not about purely theoretical study, but first and foremost about personal and direct experience. It is not enough to read a book about tantra, you should also try out what you have learned. Only what you have personally experienced and understood through your own insights will take you further.

Your body is wonderful
In contrast to many religions that strive for asceticism, in tantra the physical body is consciously used as a tool for spiritual liberation. The various senses can be consciously perceived and trained. This allows you to achieve an expanded state of consciousness. Tantra sharpens your concentration and your own presence. This allows you to achieve a more charismatic charisma and clarity.

The power of the feminine
Women are held in special esteem in Tantra, which was particularly unusual in India at that time. In Tantra, it was assumed that they were often more connected to nature due to their female cycle. However, the term feminine power is not so much about the gender roles of women and men, but about certain characteristics in their polarity. Every person has both feminine and masculine qualities. In tantra, it is the aspects of devotion, compassion and love that play a special role.

Tolerance
In Tantra, there is no separation between God and man. Every human being is both goddess and god. The world with all its manifestations is seen as equal and no one should judge or evaluate. Someone who meditates every day is no better or holier than someone who likes to have sex or go for a walk in the forest. Everything has its place in its time, even if we don’t always understand it. Tantra is therefore also a way of peaceful coexistence and instead of placing oneself above other world views, in tantra we practise tolerance.

Authenticity
The tantric schools in early India were often at odds with the moral concepts of the time, which was very courageous. There was a caste system, women did not have a high social status and sexuality was often taboo. Unfortunately, even today it is not so easy to live authentically for fear of social ostracism or professional disadvantages. Self-love and the aspect of being true to oneself is therefore an important and contemporary goal of personal growth.

My personal view of tantra
In my courses, books and retreats, I want to inspire people to be more lovingly present. It’s about feeling and discovering yourself on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. What are my desires, my fears and my hurts? What do I personally want to achieve in love and in life? How does it feel to touch and be touched with mindfulness? How can I communicate my wishes and my personal boundaries? Can I allow feelings and closeness? If we cannot find access to ourselves, how can we build intimacy with our partner or other people? Ultimately, a loving attitude towards life leads us to a feeling of great connection and acceptance with our environment. We can then experience a life with more ease, joy and spontaneity. The path of tantra is a very personal path that can be lived alone or with a partner. It is a path that can lead to more joy, love and inner contentment. I myself have even experienced moments of deep ecstasy and bliss.
